About the Authors

Ian McAllisterIan McAllister, a founding director of both the Raincoast Conservation Society and Pacific Wild, is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker. He has spent more than twenty years working to preserve the West Coast's temperate rainforest. He and his wife, Karen McAllister, were named "leaders for the 21st century" by Time magazine. Ian has written four books set in the Great Bear Rainforest, where he lives with his family.

 

 

 

Nicholas ReadNicholas Read, a lifelong lover of animals, works as a journalism instructor at Langara College in Vancouver, British Columbia. He has written for the Vancouver Sun, The Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star and other publications. He has lived in both Canada and the United Kingdom, where he worked for the national animal-rights organization Animal Aid.
