Another whirlwind day that starts with a pick-up by librarian Randy Martin (I’m beginning to feel like a baton passed around in a race). But despite that, the tour is going smoothly and everyone is welcoming. Each school has a sign announcing my arrival and the kids have heard some of my books. All the classes are attentive and interested.
After my last school with another friendly librarian (Sherri Dodge), we stop at a funky restaurant in the heart of Strathroy called Up Front Cafe. The food is inventive and tasty. The building used to be a bank. The restaurant would have fit in perfectly in NY or Toronto. A good mix of urban cool and country charm.
I love visiting other parts of the province or country. It’s an adventure and fun to meet teachers and kids from all over. I’m amazed how you can connect with people from different backgrounds in no time. The bond of books.
